Comment/Description

This project group organizes students into teams to develop autonomous driving capabilities on small-scale robotic vehicles. The activity will be structured around two competitions: first, teams participate in the regional autonomous driving challenge in Niedersachsen (expected participants from TU Clausthal, TU Braunschweig, Oldenburg, Hildesheim, Hannover), where they test perception, planning, and control algorithms under realistic conditions. Subject to funding support (after consultation with VW), the top-performing team will then travel to China for their national competition, offering students a valuable opportunity to benchmark their solutions on a global stage. Through this project, students gain hands-on experience with sensor fusion, real-time software engineering, and safety-aware autonomy while engaging in a motivating, competitive environment.

/* Note that for this PG, it is expected that all the tasks will be completed by mid-November 2026 (when the competition in China ends). This implies that some of the student work should be shifted to summer vacation time. If Oldenburg can't win first place, the instructor still aims to bring the Oldenburg team to China for the international competition. */
