Comment/Description

Communicating science to lay audiences is challenging: How do I communicate clearly and trustworthily? How do I tell an engaging story? And which format suits me personally? In this workshop we will tackle these questions and many more with a step-by-step guide to science communication.

First, you will practice to reduce your research to the essentials. This will help you to identify your goal and target group and to develop a storyline people like listening to. Next, you will learn about clear and understandable language and about what makes science communication authentic and trustworthy. Lastly, we will explore the diversity of science communication formats accompanied by a self-test on your personal preferences. At the end of the workshop, you will not only have a perspective on how to communicate your science to lay audiences, but you will also be able to plan your own science communication projects.

Target group of this workshop are doctoral candidates and postdocs!
