Comment/Description

Aktivismus – digital und museal. Forschungsansätze zu Protestbewegungen und digitale Praktiken

Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit Formen der sozialen Bewegung, damit verbundenen Online-Praktiken und den potentiellen Bezüge zu Museen und materieller Kultur. Digitale Technologien führten zu einem Wandel der Protestformen und ihren visuellen Ausprägungen. Theorien und Methoden der Digitalen Anthropologie bieten sich an, dieses Phänomen, die Rolle der sozialen Medien und die Manifestationen von Machtverhältnissen durch digitale Technologien genauer in den Blick zu nehmen. Im Seminar wird grundsätzlich in die Protestforschung, u. a. zu den Themenbereichen Klimaschutz, LGBTQI+, Feminismus und Rassismus eingeführt, der Begriff des Digitalen in seinen Bezügen zur Materialität aufgegriffen und der Schwerpunkt auf die Analyse visueller Formen in aktivistischen Kontexten gelegt. Umfangreiches Bildmaterial ist sowohl Bestandteil der Kommunikation über soziale Medien als auch der kuratorischen Arbeit in Museen. Diskutiert werden die qualitativen und quantitativen Methoden zur Untersuchung und Interpretation dieser Quellengattung. Die Bedeutung der Museen in diesem Zusammenhang ist allerdings vielseitiger. Über die kuratorische und dokumentarische Arbeit hinaus können sie auch als Orte oder Ziele von Protestbewegungen sowie ihre Positionierung bezüglich der Forderungen von Aktivist:innen untersucht werden.
