Learning organisation This seminar is conducted jointly by a female philosopher (Carla Schriever) as well as a female physicist (Betti Hart-mann). Each week, we will discuss the work of a female phi-losopher and a female physicist, respectively, and demon-strate the importance of their contributions. We will also try to discuss parallels in the life paths and demonstrate how the philosophical thinking of the corresponding epoch has influ-enced the development of physical theories or vice versa.
Students will be provided with material a week before the seminars and hence can contribute actively in the discussions.

Comment/Description

The aim is to broaden the knowledge about physics and phi-losophy and how they intertwine using exemplarily the contri-butions of female philosophers and physicist from
antiquity to modern times. Moreover, we would like to demonstrate how the paths of life of women have been and are still influenced by social norms and how women over-came these norms and became role models for both their contemporaries as well as future generations.
