In this seminar, we will focus on the closely related languages German, Dutch and English and look at a selection of aspects in which these languages syntactically differ. The topics are chosen based on the individual interests and background of the students. Student may bring in work that they are currently working on. When discussing topics, different frameworks and analyses will be considered. We will look at different types of empirical evidence , such as acceptability judgements, dialect questionnaires, child language acquisition and sentence processing. Teaching will be in English, but students may also present in German, or, based on the language background of the participants, Dutch.
