The bachelor's programme in Social Sciences at the University of Oldenburg serves to educate experts for activities in planning, administration, consultancy, research, and teaching. It consists of both theoretical and practical components, in the course of which students should learn to employ social-scientific methodologies to critically and independently deal with developmental processes in society and government. Possible career fields will be dealt with and objects of social-scientific analysis as part of the degree course.

This is an open admissions degree course, and application is only possible in the winter semester.

The career fields open to graduates of social sciences are very diverse. These may include work in public administration, national or international organisations, the education sector (in and outside of schools), political and social consultation, as well as research in institutes and universities. Generally speaking, most of these fields require a master's degree, especially for positions in the upper tier.
