Within the scope of the Dual-subject Bachelor, you can take Music
as a primary or secondary dual subject (60 ECTS) or
as a Minor (30 ECTS) combined with a Major
Music can be studied either in connection with a non-teaching career goal or as a professional teaching qualification. If you want to become a teacher, you must follow the combinations of subjects for each teaching position.
The degree programme prepares students for a range of music-related professional activities such as training music teachers at general education schools, as well as for activities in public and private institutions, establishments and companies in the world of music.
The course in the dual-subject Bachelor’s degree programme in Music includes subject-specific practical, didactic and academic elements with basic and advanced areas of study. The aim is to prepare students for the full breadth of the professional field of music including music education, musicology and music-related media practice. The core focus is on expanding theoretical and practical skills and abilities in music, learning musical instruments, acquiring techniques in ensemble conducting and finally acquiring basic skills in academic work and musical pedagogy and didactics.

Entrance examination for music: The entrance examination consists of a written qualifying test, a musical-artistic presentation and a personal evaluation to show special ability in music.

This is an open admissions degree course, and application is only possible in the winter semester.
The application deadline for the winter semester is 15 October.

Train qualified music teachers for schools through the dual-subject bachelor's programme in combination with a corresponding master of education programme.

Train students for careers in promoting music (music journalism, music editing, music management, music social work, dramaturgy, etc.) through the dual-subject bachelor's programme in combination with a corresponding master of arts programme (Applied Music Studies or Integrated Media).
