Would you like to carry on your career as an elite athlete and simultaneously pursue an internationally recognised academic degree programme, despite a tight training and competition schedule? The University of Oldenburg offers you this opportunity in the extra-occupational, internet supported bachelor's programme Business Administration for Top Athletes.
This offer is aimed at active top athletes who are currently planning their sporting careers or have just finished them. It is intended to prepare them for the 'time afterward', and open the door to career prospects as managers in companies, clubs, associations, in the area of sports promotion, as project leaders for sporting events, or in the management of athletes. This extra-occupational online study course is normally to be completed in four years. Students acquire key skills and knowledge in economics, business, and law. Furthermore, students acquire additional knowledge in the specialisation areas of 'business management' or 'sports management'. Technical, methodological, social, and language skills are enhanced within the context of business studies. A great deal of emphasis is placed on the acquisition of key competencies.

Language skills

In order to study this course at the University of Oldenburg as a student from outside of Germany, you need an adequate knowledge of German.

German Language Proficiency
You can proof your German language proficiency with the following language certificates:
  • DSH: Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (Level 2)
  • TestDaF: Test – Deutsch als Fremdsprache (with level 4 in all four areas)

Application and admission

This is an open admissions degree course, and applications are accepted for both the winter and summer semesters.
The application deadline for the winter semester is 15 September.
The application deadline for the summer semester is 15 February.

Careers and areas of work

The career prospects for graduates of the programme Business Administration for Top Athletes are good, especially in the area of sport. Depending on specialisation and interests, the following professional activities are possible:
  • manager or leading position in a company,
  • manager in clubs or associations,
  • project leader in business projects,
  • consultant or sport promotions manager (independent or in sports marketing and events agencies),
  • project leader for sporting events (events management),
  • management for individual athletes or groups (independent or in existing agencies),
  • activity in the rights trade or rights management (for example TV rights for large sporting events, as well as on the part of rights dealers and buyers),
  • manager of a sporting venue (for example stadium management).
The completion of the BA programme allows students to continue in the master's programme.
