You will broaden your curricular knowledge in the teaching subjects chosen.

Orientation and goals

This Master's degree programme prepares you for future professional activities as a secondary school (Haupt- and Realschulen) teacher, specialising in Textile Design. It builds upon a dual-subject Bachelor's degree with a focus on Material Culture: Textiles (or similar subjects) and aims at deepening both didactic and practical competencies related to textiles, as well as cultural studies expertise. The programme addresses issues of teaching methodology and curriculum, as well as current topics such as inclusion, gender, or migration. It also deals with advanced cultural studies concepts, qualitative empirical methods, and artistic skills in textiles, clothing, and fashion. Since this is a Master of Education programme, the focus  is on learning and applying current research methods which are directly relevant to schools as part of the project block.  Furthermore, during an 18-week practical phase you will become acquainted with school practices and culture as well as test your first teaching units.
