Kompetenzziele

The students gain an understanding of the theoretical foundations of selected key concepts in modern corporate finance and gain insights into the empirical literature in the respective fields. They are enabled to develop their own research questions, build financial models, handle financial data, and conduct their own empirical analyses using the statistical software R.

Modulinhalte
The course provides insights into the empirical analysis of firms’ financing and investment decisions. We will discuss the role of corporate finance from a traditional (shareholder-value-centred) and from a sustainabilty perspective. The topics covered include the theoretical foundations of long-term financing, capital structure choice, cost of capital determination, capital market efficiency, and corporate takeover decisions as well as respective empirical findings. Moreover, students will learn how to conduct empirical research in corporate finance.
