Kompetenzziele | The students know how to · cultivate bacteria and generate pure cultures · determine growth curves by photometry and counting · prepare and use washed cell suspensions for experiments · measure bacterial activity · use a microscope and take digital microphotographs · quantify and analyze energy metabolism and fundamental physiological processes · present and discuss scientific results · write a scientific protocol |
Modulinhalte | The course starts with an introductory seminar every morning. Then, several experiments will be done over two day’s round robin. Different physiological processes are analyzed using various techniques, e.g. investigation of microbial growth under oxic and anoxic conditions, determination of protein contents and measurement of substrate turnover rates. |
