Kompetenzziele | Based on the microscopic structure of engineering materials the students understand their macroscopic properties and behaviour and are thus able to decide on the use of engineering materials taking the specific requirements into consideration. |
Modulinhalte | Classification of engineering materials, structure of engineering materials (structure of crystalline solids, imperfection in solids), single – and multiphase materials, phase diagrams of binary alloys, thermal analysis, lever rule, crystallization and microstructure development, phase transformation in metals, diffusion and thermally activated states, mechanical properties and testing methods, elastic and plastic deformation, hardness strengthening mechanisms, creep, fatigue, ferrous alloys and their annealing and heat treatments, nonferrous alloys, polymers (classification, structure and properties), ceramics and glasses (structure and properties), corrosion. |
