neuroscience in the study of psychological topics.

Modulinhalte

In the first part of the course, students will gain a foundational understanding of the brain mechanisms underlying different cognitive functions and of the methods used to study them. They will then actively apply this knowledge by engaging each week with current research papers, talks, or other materials. In the second part, students will deepen their understanding by exploring selected topics in greater conceptual detail. This includes reading, analysing, and discussing key texts to critically examine different theoretical perspectives and research approaches.


Part 1: Introduction to cognitive neuroscience (lecture and seminar): winter
Brain and cognition, methods of cognitive neuroscience

Emotional and social behaviour
Language, executive functions

Part 2: From Attention to Intelligence: Exploring Neurocognitive Functions (seminar): summer
Selected topics of the above covered neurocognitive functions

The module will be tested with a written exam of 2 h duration on the contents of part 1.

Required active participation for gaining credits:
1 presentation participation in discussions on other presentations
attendance of at least 70% in both seminars within one semester (will be checked in StudIP).
