Skills to be acquired in this module

Within this module, students develop a solid understanding of key concepts, theories, and research perspectives in Organizational Behavior. They analyze how individual behavior, group processes, and organizational structures shape interaction and performance in organizations. Classic and contemporary models are discussed critically and applied to practical management questions. Through case studies, discussions, and interactive exercises, students reflect on different perspectives on motivation, leadership, collaboration, and organizational change.

Students
• can explain and contextualize core theories of individual, group, and organizational behavior within scientific debates,
• are able to apply and critically evaluate concepts and empirical insights in practical organizational settings,
• enhance their ability to reflect on their own role and leadership behavior and strengthen their analytical and argumentative skills in dealing with organizational phenomena.

Module contents

The module covers core topics of Organizational Behavior across three analytical levels – individual, group, and organization.

At the individual level, students explore foundations of behavior in organizations, including personality, motivation, creativity, well-being, performance, and individual leadership.

At the group level, the focus is on social dynamics and interaction. Topics include group development, communication, decision-making, diversity, power, conflict, and leadership in teams.

At the organizational level, structural and cultural influences on behavior are examined. Students engage with topics such as organizational structure, culture, leadership at the organizational level, and managing change.

Through discussions, case analyses, and interactive exercises, theoretical concepts are critically examined and applied to real organizational contexts.
