Module contents
The focus of this module is both a formal oral presentation and a written report of another pre-selected module from the BA in the English language (Kopplungsmodule). This course will be conducted entirely in English.
The module commences with an Introductory Presence Day when the nature and requirements of giving a formal business presentation are considered. Relevant and appropriate phraseology and language; the nature of a beginning, a middle and an end; voice projection; body language and timing are among the many aspects included in this introduction. The day will be proactive so all will be required to participate fully in the course. In addition, ideas and initial suggestions will also be introduced focussing on the writing of a scientific report.
Following this introduction, the module will then progress with an on-line phase, where students will be required to work on study material related to presentation skills, to answer on-line questions and to provide feedback on their progress with the module they wish to combine with Business English.
A further Presence Day will then specifically focus on the active skills required for the oral presentation and to assist and advise on this forthcoming presentation. Small exemplar presentations will be required of the participants. Following the oral presentation, meetings either individual and/or group, will then be arranged to offer both verbal and written feedback. A critical review of the parameters and requirements of the written report will then follow.
