Module contents
The focus of this module is on the specific language and skills required in the modern business environment. This course will be conducted entirely in English.
The module commences with 2 Introductory Presence Days when the nature and requirements of giving a formal business presentation are considered. Relevant and appropriate phraseology and language; the nature of a beginning, a middle and an end; voice projection; body language and timing are among the many aspects included in this introduction. The day will be proactive so all will be required to participate fully in the course. Small exemplar presentations will be required of the partici-pants.
The second element of the course will focus on business English required in the modern workplace. This will include the provi-sion of appropriate and required grammar and vocabulary in a variety of commonplace business situations.
Following this introduction, the module will then progress with an on-line phase, where students will be required to work on study material related to presentation skills, to answer on-line questions and to research a business topic of their choosing.
A further 2 Presence Days will then specifically focus on the assessed oral presentation and the further development of both business skills and knowledge.
