Skills to be acquired in this module | The lecture course will introduce the module and introduce the theme of ‘cities’ in social geography. Subsequent lectures take students on a geographical tour of three world cities - Liverpool, New York and Auckland – spanning Europe, America and Oceania; in the northern and southern hemisphere. The lectures will explore these cities to introduce several major themes in social geography including 1) relations between the global and local; 2) tourism, heritage and memory, 3) sustainability and the environment. |
Module contents | The seminar course supports the lecture course by enabling students to ‘travel’ to three city locations and explore, in-depth, social geographies using a range of secondary resources including audio-visual, textual media and academic and popular resources. |
