Upon completing this module, students will have a thorough understanding of the central concepts and theories related to one of the subfields of sociology. More specifically, students will be able to:

• gain a deeper understanding of relevant research topics in either quantitative or qualitative sociology and related theories and methods;
• read and understand academic literature in sociology and use it to inform their own research;
• develop critical thinking skills and the ability to evaluate and analyze sociological research;
• design and conduct their own research projects using appropriate research methods;
• apply their knowledge in the analysis of current events in the field of sociology and integrate it into their own research;
• communicate sociological research findings effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• understand and evaluate how sociology is applied in different contexts, such as in policy-making, social activism, and advocacy.
