My lab mainly works on morphosyntactic and lexical phenomena, in different populations: children (mono/bilingual), adults (monolingual, second language acquisition), children and adults with hearing impairment. "The time required for a successful completion of a research module is calculated by the number of credits point earned for this module. 15 Credit points equal a workload of 450 hrs, this equal roughly 3 month duration (with full time work (40 hr a week)). This time includes not only work in the lab, but also literature search, writing the report, presenting your results and attending the workgroup seminar. How these 450 hrs are distributed in your research project is highly individual and there is no recommendation for it. If you cannot work full time, you should discuss this with your supervisor because you project will then take a bit longer than three month. Every research project is graded by a written report of your work. A typical scientific report consists of abstract, Introduction, material and methods, results, discussion, conclusion or outlook. However the exact structure of your report has to be discussed with your supervisor. If you like, you and your supervisor can fill out a learning agreement prior to the project to clarify the expectations. This is only mandatory for an external research project, but we also recommend it for an internal. There are no documents or forms you have to submit if you are planning an internal research project."

This research module consists of learning one or more of the following techniques: analyzing spiking activity from single-unit recordings of the auditory nerve, testing for tinnitus in animals using a behavioral model, recording and analyzing auditory brainstem responses, studying anatomical changes in the brainstem and cochlea using immunohistochemistry. Depending on the content of the research module, which we will discuss on an individual basis, the student should be familiar with (Matlab) programming language, concluded the laboratory animal science course, and/or have some basic practical experience with working in a lab (e.g. pipetting, making solutions).

Module can be taken multiple times, however, supervision of individual projects is limited to 45 ECTS for the same combination of student and supervisor (1 research module + Master thesis OR up to 3 research modules, including external research projects)
