To complete the module “Advanced Animal Ecology” participation in the lecture series is mandatory. The exercises can be taken either as a basic course (lök345, 6KP) or as an advanced course (lök350, 9KP). You can only participate on one of the modules (lök345 or lök350). Once you completed one of the modules, you will not be able to participate on the other one. The differences between the basic and the advanced course is the complexity of conducted experiments and the analysis

·       A profound understanding of the ecology and sensory biology of insects

·       A solid knowledge of the role of insects in ecosystems, insect behavioral ecology, sensory ecology, and how anthropogenic influences affect these processes

·       Insights into the current state of research on specific topics, such as insect navigation in general and insect migration in particular

·       An overview of methods used to study insects

During the exercises (3SWS), students will acquire the following skills:

·       Ability to independently plan and conduct experiments in insect behavioral ecology

·       A basic understanding of data analysis of collected data

·       Capacity to contextualize obtained results within the broader scientific framework

·       Development of skills to solve problems in a goal-oriented manner and to critically interpret data

·       Experience working on projects as part of a team

·       Presentation of experimental design and results through an oral presentation

·       Preparation of a scientific report
