Freshwater dissolved organic matter (DOM) is a complex mixture of organic molecules that remains poorly characterized at the structural level. Gaining deeper insights into the molecular composition of DOM is vital for understanding its role in global carbon cycles. This study aims to enhance understanding of DOM composition in freshwater aquatic environments, such as lakes and rivers, using state-of-the-art high-field 800 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
