Topic: Invasive plants as habitat for arthropods and snails

Personal details

Title Invasive plants as habitat for arthropods and snails
Description

The invasive knotweeds, Fallopia sp., are also spreading rapidly in Germany and are suspected of displacing native flora. However, it is still unknown to what extent these knotweed stands are used by native animal species.

The aim of this project is to compare the fauna of knotweed stands with that of natural vegetation.

For this purpose, birds are caught and ringed using nets, and arthropods and snails are collected using pitfall traps and colored bowls.
