Title | Characterizing not-for-profit digital platforms |
Description | This thesis is located at the intersection of digital sustainability and platform economy. It focuses on identifying the characteristics of digital platforms and examining their applicability to not-for-profit digital platforms. The goal is to show the dimensions of how digital platforms have been characterized in the past, investigate the applicability of the identified characteristics to not-for-profit digital platforms and thereby potentially identify key characteristics of not-for-profit digital platforms. This topic explores the emerging field of not-for-profit digital platforms, combining digital sustainability with platform economy. It offers the opportunity to contribute to socially impactful, real-world solutions. If you are interested, please contact Lea Kuhlmann from the Offis: lea.kuhlmann@offis.de |

Problem statement | The idea is to first conduct a semi-structured literature review and/or employ Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) techniques to develop an overview and second, develop a taxonomy of (not-for-profit) digital platform characteristics (paper describing the method: https://doi.org/10.1057/ejis.2012.26). For a Bachelor thesis step one should be enough; the descriptions of the planned work are work in progress, feel free to approach me with your own ideas and adaptations of the proposed topic. |
Requirement | A general interest in platform economy and sustainability. |
