Topic: Breeding ecology of tropical songbirds and interaction with migratory species

Personal details

Title Breeding ecology of tropical songbirds and interaction with migratory species
Description

Very little is known on the breeding ecology of songbirds in South-East Asia, yet many of these are threatened and have a high extinction risk. The aim of this project is to investigate basic ecology of selected species, e.g. breeding phenology, nest site selection, nest success and predation. Of further interest are interactions with migratory species from Siberia that spend the winter in the tropics, and how these species share ressources, compete with each other or overlap in their niches. Fieldwork is conducted between December and July in Thailand in cooperation with Prof. Dr. George Gale, King Mongkut´s University of Technology Thonburi.
