Description:
Since the 2010s, the growth of far-right political projects in Europe and the US has gone hand in hand with cultural and musical changes. Far-right projects have used music in various ways, highly popular artists have adopted far-right populist discourses, and many far-right artists have become commercially successful. But what exactly is the populist far right? How do populist far-right projects use music? And how exactly does music negotiate populist far-right discourses? This seminar seeks to find answers to these questions by investigating the recent history in the interaction between music and the populist far right. We will discuss case studies of different cultural contexts around the globe, with a main focus on Europe and the US. 		Seminar - Prof. Dr. Mario Dunkel

Description:
This class is dedicated to the intersection of musical behaviors, health, and wellbeing. This means that a main interest in music, but no specific expertise or musical knowledge is required. We will retrieve research papers that address health and wellbeing-related issues in the context of musical behaviours. The specific topics in terms of research papers will be selected by students in collaboration with me. Each selected paper will be subject to critical appraisal, a concept that will be explained in detail during the first sessions. Students of the Masters Neurocognitive Psychology (für psy141 - Minor) or of any other MA program, including international students, are cordially invited.
