| We will discuss theoretical foundations of financial intermediation in general, and of banking in particular as well as the economic, institutional, and regulatory context in which financial institutions operate today. Our focus will be on a European perspective, including the Eurpean Central Bank's monetary policy instruments as well as the regulatory framework set by Basel III. |
