Students gain a basic understanding of ecological interactions in marine ecosystems. The competition and feeding relationships are in focus in this course.
Students gain basic competence in the design and evaluation of ecological experiments.
Module contents
Laboratory experiments and analysis explain fundamental concepts of marine ecology. The experiments are prepared and conducted in groups, with a focus on experiments on competition and predator-prey relationships. The assessment methods include microscopy, nutrient analysis and pigment analysis. The course teaches basics of experimental design and explains the statistical analysis with the help of R.
