Prerequisites
Skills to be acquired in this module
After completing this module students have deepened their theoretical and analytical knowledge on the processes of knowledge production in modern society in general. Furthermore, they have gained insights in specific processes of the production and the distribution of political knowledge and competencies to learners in certain organisations and other learning environments.
Module contents
The aim of the module is to familiarise students with different modes and techniques of knowledge production and to discuss their conditions and consequences against the background of the significance of knowledge in modern society. The module focuses on different processes of knowledge production, depending on the seminar offered. In these processes, it changes how knowledge is produced and distributed. New technologies, for example, enable access to knowledge across traditional settings of knowledge production. Shifts in interpretive sovereignties generate new positions of power. Finally, it will be discussed to what extent new modes of knowledge production change the framework of knowledge production as a whole. In doing so, an exemplary focus is placed, for example, on political education. It is asked how and and which knowledge is conveyed as a medium of political socialisation processes within educational organisations etc., which knowledge can be identified as relevant for political socialisation processes at all.
