    Preparatory meeting: Place and time will be announced. This two-weeks-course will take place during the semester break. For participation in the practical course, participation in the corresponding seminar is mandatory (5.08.4351 im WS21-22). This course mainly addresses master students from the marine environmental and biological sciences with basic knowledge in organic and analytical chemistry. It is the basis for an advanced course for the application of multidimensional, high-field NMR spectroscopy in the environmental and biological sciences that will follow. This advanced course is complementary to the NMR courses offered by the Institute for Chemistry and it is open for master students of chemistry, marine environmental sciences and biology alike. Course title: Introduction to NMR Spectroscopy for Environmental Scientists Course content: Fundamentals of NMR spectroscopy - General aspects of homo- and heteronuclera NMR experiments - Acquisition, processing and interpretation of 1D and 2D NMR spectra for structure determination of small molecules - NMR strcutural parameters: chemical shifts, J-couplings and NOE/ROEs - Fast screening of complex organic mixtures (SPE-DOM) using NMR spectroscopy - Introduction to advanced NMR methods - Training and excercises at the NMR spectrometer.
