DEADLINE for registration is Thursday, 04.01.2018 TERMS AND CONDITIONS: The fees for the course have to be covered by your research group. Thus you need to provide information on the RESEARCH GROUP in which you are going to join a research project. We also need to know the ANIMAL MODEL of your project. Therefore please take part in the two polls ("Umfragen") at the StudIP course page! You will be excluded from the course if you cannot provide this information. We cannot tolerate any absences in the practical part, as we certify your competence to the Animal Welfare Authority (LAVES) in the end. COURSE ORGANISATION AND CONTENT Background theoretical content will be studied in your own time BEFORE the practical part (assume 20 hours for this). You NEED TO PASS an EXAM on this content in order to continue with the practical part of the course. The training course includes both theoretical and practical parts. The course follows the FELASA 2015 recommendations (but has no FELASA accreditation yet). The Core Modules (animal handling) provide training and education on national legislation, ethics, animal welfare and the three Rs, basic and appropriate biology, animal care, health and management, recognition of pain, suffering and distress. Model species are rodents, birds and fish. The range of methods is according to your research field and previous training level. Mandatory course for students and personnel dealing with experimental animals. |
