Beschreibung: | These days many of us reach for a smartphone, tablet or laptop to look up a word or to find an answer to a burning question. The Internet provides us with quick and easy access to an extensive range of information. English language learners alone have a multitude of reference materials, language tools and exercises available to them. They can listen to educational podcasts, work on grammar exercises and access online dictionaries and corpora, to name a few. In this course, students will improve their academic writing skills through exploring educational applications of the Internet for both individuals and educational institutions and by discussing issues surrounding them. As a secondary focus, students will be introduced to useful online tools and resources to improve their writing skills and language use and how to use them effectively. --- This course forms one half of the compulsory module ang311: Integrated Language Skills. The module is assessed via a portfolio. The module is assessed via a portfolio and the assessment requirements here are a take-home essay and a 90 minute written language test. The grade will be added to the result from Spoken English. Homework assignments as required by the lecturer will count towards active participation. |
