Beschreibung: English is becoming an increasingly important subject for young learners. Yet it can be challenging to find a way to introduce language to children in a way that is fun and engaging as well as suitably challenging, and to create a communicative classroom environment when the learners have limited linguistic resources. This course has three distinct aims: 1) To work on language skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening, and to consider how these skills might best be taught to beginning language learners. Students will also gain practice modifying and adapting their own English production to make it appropriate for beginning language learners. 2) To introduce students to various strategies, techniques and resources for teaching English in a classroom situation and to encourage students to both adapt and develop their own materials. 3) To provide practice planning lessons in English for both skill- and language-based classroom activities. This course is assessed via a portfolio, details of which will be discussed in the first class session. It makes up 50% of the grade for the compulsory module ang701.
