Kommentar/Beschreibung

This workshop explores the way in which music diplomacy is conducted in the twenty-first century. We will look in detail at different case studies from different nations in order to illuminate the potentialities and limits of contemporary music diplomacy.

Bio-Note
Mario Dunkel received his PhD in American Studies from TU Dortmund, Germany. Since April 2017, he holds the Junior Professorship for musical education and transcultural music communication at the University of Oldenburg’s Institute of Music. His most recent book publications include The Stories of Jazz: Performing America Through Its Musical History (2014) and Aesthetics of Resistance: Charles Mingus and the Civil Rights Movement (2012).
