Comment/Description

Overview of the Seminar on cognitive engineering as part of the module “Foundations of Socio-Technical Systems Engineering: Cognitive Processes”
The seminar is offered for students in the International Masters Programme " Critical Systems Engineering in Socio-Technical Systems”. Teaching language is English. The seminar will be given as a block seminar at the end of the semester.
There will be one lecture in the beginning of the semester in that the topics will be introduced to the students. Each student is requested to choose one topic, to read the suggested papers, to search for additional related work, and to prepare a presentation (15 min + 5 min discussion).
All given material has to be read till mid of the semester. One meeting on an individual basis is mandatory to discuss the presentation and to resolve open questions. Prior to this meeting, a written presentation structure has to be delivered, which also refers to additional found material.
The results will then be presented in a block seminar and discussed with all other participants.
Additionally, students have the option to perform a small exercise. The result should bebe added to the presentation (+5 min presentation time).
The block seminar is performed with three presenters for each block. Active participation (listening to the other presentations and asking questions or participating the discussion) is mandatory for all students.
