During this four-day workshop, you will learn how to analyze functional MRI data using MATLAB and the software package SPM12. Most of the study time will be dedicated to hands-on sessions in which you will work with fMRI data.

Workshop topics include
- Data preprocessing
- Controlling the quality of MRI data
- 1st and 2nd level statistics (including ANOVA, regression models)
- Writing batch scripts in Matlab to automate data processing
- Extraction/plotting of contrast estimates
- Region-of-interest (ROI) analysis
- Tools for anatomical localization
- Data visualization tools
- Psycho-Physiological Interaction (PPI) analysis
- …

Note: The workshop is no introductory course to the basics of fMRI! It is expected that participants have prior knowledge on the principles of (functional) MRI, the nature of the BOLD signal (and neurovascular coupling), and standard preprocessing steps (realignment, slice timing, normalization, smoothing) and statistic modelling (general linear model) of fMRI data.

If you have not taken part in the “Functional MRI data analysis” course that is offered by Dr. Gießing in the summer term, but still would like to take part in the SPM workshop, please get in touch with me.
