Performance record
The examination will comprise of an oral presentation and a written student essay building on that ("Referat inkl. schriftlicher Ausarbeitung"). While the presentation may be of a more general nature, the paper should focus on a very specific research question. The overall topic however, should stay the same.
This lecture will serve as a general introduction to fields of Public International Law ("Völkerrecht") and, building on that, International Economic Law. On a substantive level, the aim is to put you in a position where you can follow and critically assess issues of global significance about which you read in the media (e.g. Trade wars, the multilateral world order, international organizations etc.). While the focus will be on the law and policy of the WTO, some consideration will also be given to the Bretton Woods institutions (IMF, World Bank). On a practical level, the lecture and the corresponding examination (presentation+essay based on that) shall enable you to develop and substantiate critical arguments of your own after careful inquiry into a particular subject area (there will be a list of topics and you will also be able to come up with your own). As the lecture will be held in English, you may also use it as a "testing ground" for further developing you language skills. There will be a tutorial to assist you with questions surrounding your presentation and your paper.
Die Veranstaltung Internationales Wirtschaftsrecht des Moduls sollen den Studierenden angesichts der Internationalisierung aller Rechtsgebiete wichtige Grundkenntnisse auf dem Gebiet des internationalen Wirtschaftsrechts vermitteln. Zum Kern des Moduls zählen die öffentlich-rechtlichen Aspekte des internationalen Rechtsrahmens, in dem öffentliche und private juristische Personen agieren. Das Modul wird in englischer Sprache gegeben, um einerseits die Internationalität des Themengebiets hervorzuheben und andererseits auf den Umgang mit der im späteren Beruf unerlässlichen englischen Sprache vorzubereiten. Inhaltlich sind die folgenden Themengebiete für die Lehrveranstaltungen relevant: Einführung in das internationale Wirtschaftsrecht (völkerrechtliche Grundlagen, Subjekte, Quellen, Prinzipien, innerstaatliche Geltung und Wirkung des internationalen Wirtschaftsrechts), Historie und Institutionen des Internationalen Wirtschaftsrechts, WTO-Recht. Ziele des Moduls / Kompetenzen: Die Studierenden verstehen internationale und europäische Rechtsnormen und Rechtsfragen, wenden internationale und europäische Rechtsnormen an und beherrschen englische Rechtsterminologie.
