Beschreibung: | EMMIR workshop open to students from other MA courses Carried out by Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa (Institute for Heritage, Conservation & Restoration, Makerere University) Friday, 21 November, 14-18h Saturday, 22 November, 10-18h Sunday, 23 November, 10-18h Monday, 24 November, 10-18h Tuesday, 25 November. 9-13h A8-1-102 and A8-0-001 The aim of this workshop, which takes its title from Robert A. Heinlein’s celebrated 1961 book of the same name, is to work with the students to develop and produce series of science fiction fanzines, which re-conceptualise and re-narrate the city of Oldenburg as if it were an alien universe - or as it might be perceived by aliens. The workshop offer students an opportunity to engage with the city as a site, and also to explore imaginatively the themes of migration and intercultural encounter that underpin so many science fiction narratives. |
