Students will learn to read, present and discuss neuroscientific literature. Each student will have to do an oral presentation of paper and poster presentation. Week 1: How to read and present a scientific paper and how to generate a scientific poster? Distribution of papers to participants Week 2: Example presentation of a scientific paper by the teacher with discussion Week 3-13: Oral presentation / moderation of discussion of one scientific paper per week by one or two student(s) Week 14: Short poster presentations of all students The focus topic of the scientific literature will change between semesters. Attending the first two lectures is mandatory for this modul. Students will learn to read, present and discuss neuroscientific literature. This course is a voluntary practical course conveying several basic laboratory techniques (pipetting; using a scale; calculating buffer concentrations; usage of a pH meter, photometer, centrifuge and microscope; introduction to sterile working and clean benches) for students who were not able to gain those skills during bachelor studies. Everyone not feeling safe in those techniques should attend the course because this is the only repetition of these foundational skills. These techniques and skills are mandatory for Neuroscience, Molecular Biomedicine and Biology masters and are expected for every following practical course! This course is a voluntary practical course conveying several basic laboratory techniques (pipetting; using a scale; calculating buffer concentrations; usage of a pH meter, photometer, centrifuge and microscope; introduction to sterile working and clean benches) for students who were not able to gain those skills during bachelor studies.
