The former study program "M.A. Wirtschafts- und Rechtswissenschaften (Business Administration, Economics and Law)" is continued under the name "M.A. Betriebswirtschaftslehre: Management und Recht (Business Administration: Management and Law)" since winter term 2023/24.
The four-semester Master's programme in Business Administration, Economics and Law at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg offers a combination of interdisciplinary modules and a wide range of specializations to choose from. The aim of the Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics and Law is to impart in-depth knowledge of both economics and law and also the interdisciplinary links between these subjects.
The University of Oldenburg is able to offer exceptionally good conditions for this two-track and interdisciplinary programme of studies as it has a long tradition of linking economics and law in a variety of degree programmes.
Over the course of the four-semester Master's degree program, students earn a total of 120 credit points. The degree course in Business Administration: Management and Law consists of the following modules:
In the first semester, four modules from the fields of business administration, law, economics and business methods form the general basis of the study program. These basic modules prepare students for the specific requirements of the four specializations (see focus areas), from which they must choose one to develop their individual profile.
A total of nine modules must be selected from a specific range of modules in each of the specializations (focus areas). In addition, students can choose two supplementary modules from their own or a related Master's degree program at the University of Oldenburg.
The Master's thesis, which is written over a period of five months, follows the specialization in the fourth semester. The preparation of the thesis is accompanied by a research colloquium.
In the course of the Master's programme with a standard period of study of four semesters, you will acquire a total of 120 ECTS credits. For each module, 6 ECTS credits are awarded, the Master's degree module is credited with 30 ECTS credits (Master's thesis 24 ECTS credits plus 6 ECTS credits from research colloquium).
Sustainability Management (NM)
The research-oriented specialization sustainability management focuses on the challenges and opportunities of corporate sustainability management. The question is how successful corporate action can be reconciled with ecological framework conditions such as climate change and at the same time be designed in a socially responsible manner.
Accounting, Finance, Taxation (AFT)
In this specialization, students acquire key competences in accounting, finance, and taxation. Depending on their individual preferences, they may choose to study elective courses focusing on auditing and taxation, or finance and banking, to prepare for a career in these or related fields.
Management (UF)
The management specialization teaches current management concepts from both a quantitative and a qualitative perspective as well as the structure of modern business management. This program is designed in particular for students who wish to become managers or start their own businesses.
Law of Business/Business Law (RdW)
There are close connections and clear interactions between law and business. The "Law of Business" specialization aims to broaden and deepen students' knowledge of both law and business. Students should develop the ability to solve problems at the interface of law and business. A prerequisite for this in-depth study is a basic knowledge of business administration and law. One example of this is the Oldenburg BA "Business Administration and Law“ (Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit juristischem Schwerpunkt). However, similar courses of study at other universities also enable students for this specialization.
In order to study this course at the University of Oldenburg as a student from outside of Germany, you need an adequate knowledge of German.

This course of studies accepts a limited number of applicants, and application is only possible in the winter semester.
By linking together subject matter from the fields of economics and law, this Master's programme offers a dual qualification which affords excellent professional opportunities in a managerial capacity in small and medium-sized regional companies, in larger companies, associations, and both national and international organizations either in public service or in an autonomous capacity.
