Comment/Description

‚Migration‘ – Abgesehen von der Corona-Pandemie gibt es wohl kaum ein Thema, welches insbesondere durch die Fluchtbewegungen von 2015 derart stark politisiert und kontrovers diskutiert wird. Die Begriffe Migration, Antirassismus, Diversität und Partizipation sind auch in der Museumsdebatte zu zentralen Schlagworten avanciert. Narrative und Sammlungen, die von einem homogenen Kulturverständnis ausgehen, wirken angesichts einer zunehmenden gesellschaftlichen Pluralität nicht mehr überzeugend. Vielmehr werden diversitätsorientierte Veränderungen und mehr Teilhabe gefordert. Museen stehen demnach gegenwärtig vor der Herausforderung, sich innerhalb der Migrationsgesellschaft neu zu positionieren und zu strukturieren. In dem Seminar beleuchten wir – u.a. durch Best Practice Beispiele – wie museale Institutionen diesem Anspruch in Zukunft gerecht werden können. Migration und Diversität werden dabei als Chance betrachtet, um rassismuskritische Museumsarbeit zu leisten. Nach einer theoretischen Auseinandersetzung mit den Themenbereichen erproben wir eigene Ausstellungs- und Vermittlungsstrategien.
